O n my laptop with Windows 8 with USB3 extensible controller which supports both USB2 and USB3 ports I had to install nuforce driver for Win 7 in compatibility mode. I had even worse experience with HiFaceTwo, their Win 8 driver never worked with above mentioned USB controller. It came with Windows drivers and also a Mac driver (weird enough in itself) but the unit works with Mac without the now long gone support from Nuforce. Wasn't cheap at the time. The NuForce supplied driver appears to force upsampling to 24/96. Even when the source material is 16/44 and JRiver reports the output stream is unchanged at 16/44, the driver dialog box indicates retransmission at 24/96 and my DAC says the same thing.
